Special Address
9) Partnerships for the Planet: Climate, Nature and Prosperity
Qatar 15:00–15:45 | Geneva CET 13:00–13:45
Climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation are increasingly shaping investment decisions and development prospects worldwide. Meeting these interconnected challenges will require a major shift in capital towards resilient infrastructure, clean technologies, ecosystem restoration and nature-positive business models, particularly in developing and vulnerable economies. This plenary will explore how governments, investors, development institutions and businesses can harness partnerships, investment policies and financing instruments to mobilize finance at scale, reduce investment risks and ensure that climate and nature action supports jobs, livelihoods and sustainable development. Taking place on the road to COP31, the discussion will consider how investment partnerships can help translate international commitments into tangible projects and measurable results.
10) Investing Beyond GDP for Sustainable and Inclusive Progress
Qatar 16:00–16:45 | Geneva CET 14:00–14:45
As countries confront growing economic, social and environmental pressures, GDP alone cannot capture the full value, or long-term consequences, of investment decisions. Building on the Pact for the Future, the UN Secretary-General's Counting What Counts report and initiatives such as the Sevilla Global Alliance on Beyond GDP, this plenary will explore how measures of wellbeing, resilience, sustainability, inclusion and intergenerational equity can inform policy and capital allocation. Bringing together governments, academics, international organizations, business leaders and youth, the session will examine how the Beyond GDP agenda can move from measurement to action, directing investment towards sustainable prosperity for people and planet.
